The challenge
A pan-India cold-chain operator running 140 reefer trucks for 11 pharma clients was bleeding margin on temperature-excursion claims. IoT sensors logged data every 2 minutes but alerts came in via vendor email digest 3 hours later — too late to save a Rs 18-lakh insulin consignment. Monthly pharma SLA reports were compiled by hand from sensor exports, trip sheets and telematics, taking the operations team 6 hours per client. Insurance claims for excursions took 3 weeks to file because nobody had the audit trail in one place.
How we deployed
- Built a real-time stream from the IoT sensor vendor API into the operator FMS — alerts fired within 60 seconds of any breach.
- Routed alerts on severity tier — Tier-1 to driver SMS + dispatch WhatsApp, Tier-2 to ops manager call, Tier-3 to client account manager.
- Auto-generated pharma SLA reports per client per month — temperature trace, excursion log, on-time delivery, GDP compliance.
- Built an insurance-claim packet generator that pulled sensor trace, trip sheet, driver statement and consignment value into one PDF for broker submission.
- Trained operations staff on a Next.js exception dashboard that triaged alerts by client and SLA stake.
What changed
- Temperature-excursion insurance claims fell 78% as in-trip interventions saved consignments.
- Alert latency from sensor breach to actionable WhatsApp dropped from 3 hours to 47 seconds.
- Pharma SLA reports went from 6 hours per client to 90 seconds — 11 clients reported on the same morning.
- Insurance claim filing time compressed from 3 weeks to 4 hours per incident.
- Two pharma clients renewed annual contracts at 14% higher rates citing audit-grade reporting.
